The Busch Garden

Busch Gardens is home to one of the largest zoos in the U.S. , it has a beautiful and manicured landscape of roller coasters, water rides, themed kids’ play areas and character interactions that stray from Florida’s dominant mouse paradigm. In short it is a zoo with rides! I believe this is the perfect equation for an unforgettable family getaway.

There are three reasons why families particularly enjoy spending a day at Busch Gardens: the beautifully landscaped grounds, activities that appeal to every age range, and opportunities to see exotic animals up close and even feed them by hand; over 2,700 animals, from aardvarks to zebras, are housed here in surprisingly natural environments that are spread across 335 acres. And of course this is NO Disney and they have shorter hours of operation. But there is NO shortage of friendly helpful staff and things to do.

Busch Gardens’ free-roaming habitat for African wildlife is thought to be the largest such environment outside of Africa, and zebras, giraffes, hippos, lions, gorillas, chimpanzees and more call it home. That is why we would occasionally find ourselves entrenched in lush scenery as we explored the park, almost as if we’d entered a jungle. That’s one of the things that makes Busch Gardens so unique, which is emphasising on animals and their natural habitats in addition to having thrill rides.

Whether you’re looking for a zoo-like experience complete with kangaroos eating from your hand and safari trips across a realistic savannah, live shows that cater to your two year old and let him cuddle with Elmo, or thrill rides that will keep the teens in your entourage thinking you’re the best parents around, Busch Gardens is that rare theme park that offers a heavy dose of something for every age child.

You can tour the entire park in one day, but devoting two days to your visit will let you explore all of the attractions at a more leisurely pace. So consider tacking on a few extra days while you’re in these parts to make the most of your family vacation.

A One of a Kind Adventure Park in Tampa

When planning a trip to visit Florida, because of its size and must-see tourist attractions, one must prepare through proper planning and research. Amongst the list of must to go places is Tampa, Florida. Here you can locate one of the largest animal attractions at Busch Gardens Tampa.

The 335-acre adventure park’s habitats offer views of some of the world’s most endangered and exotic animals. For the best animal sightings, go to their habitats early, when it’s cooler. You can experience up-close animal encounters on the Serengeti Plain, a 65-acre free-roaming habitat, home to reticulated giraffes, Grevy’s zebras, white rhinos, bongos, impalas, and more. Myombe Reserve allows you to view lowland gorillas and chimpanzees in a lush, tropical-rain-forest.

The park has eight areas, each with its own theme, animals, live entertainment, thrill rides, kiddie attractions, dining, and shopping. A Skyride cable car soars over the park, offering a bird’s-eye view of it all.

Added up-close tours are available, including a 6-hour zookeeper-for-a-day program and a nighttime safari by lantern light. Tour components and prices are subject to change without notice and park admission is required, but not included.

The Jungala exhibit brings Bengal tigers to center stage and puts them at eye level allowing you to view them from underground caves and underwater windows. The big cats are just one of the reasons the theme park attracts some 4.5 million visitors each year.

It’s a don’t-miss attraction for children and adults who can see, in person, all those wild beasts they’ve watched on Animal Planet and they’ll get better views of them here than at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Orlando.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has more than 2,000 exotic animals living in natural-style environments. If you want to beat the crowds, start in the back of the park and work your way around clockwise.

A Trip To Busch Garden in Tampa

If you love the exhilaration of twisting, turning, and flipping at high speeds then you will love the roller coasters at Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida. There are so many roller coasters to keep you busy that the park will be closing before you know it. But, even if you aren’t a fan of the rides you will still love this amusement park. There are many different shows, restaurants, gift shops, and games that will entertain you as well. If you like rides and the other activities then you will really get a good deal for the entry price!

The best time of year to visit Busch Gardens in Tampa is in early spring or late fall. The reason why is because there will be less crowds and the weather is warm and comfortable, which makes walking around all day enjoyable. If you go in the dead of summer you will be scorched by the hot Florida sun and wait for hours to get on the rides. This can turn an amazing vacation destination into a miserable day of waiting and sweating. Of course, if you visit in the summer you will still have a lot of fun, but it will be considerably more enjoyable in the spring months of March and April or the fall months of September and October.

Top Attractions in Tampa Florida

Tampa offers plenty for visitors to do and see without spending a dime. Year-round sunshine and warmer temperatures make for lots of free outdoor activities, but there are also tempting indoor attractions to choose from.

1.Tampa River walk

The Tampa Riverwalk is a scenic exploration of the downtown riverfront. A good place to start is the Straz Center for Performing Arts, however, you can join the walk from anywhere along the route (see their website for a map). The Riverwalk takes you past most of the popular downtown attractions including the Tampa Museum of Art, Curtis Hixon Park, the Convention Center, the Tampa Bay History Center, and the Channelside Bay Plaza, before ending at the Florida Aquarium. Along the way you will pass interpretive exhibits highlighting Tampa’s history and numerous public art exhibits. The path is almost 2.5 miles long, but there are plenty of spots to stop for a rest and grab a drink or a quick bite along the way.

2. Bay shore Boulevard

Yes, a sidewalk is one of Tampa’s best attractions. Before you start with the jokes, this is a very special sidewalk. Running from just north of MacDill Air Force Base to downtown Tampa along Hillsborough Bay, the sidewalk that runs along Bay Shore Boulevard is the longest continuous sidewalk in the US. It is also South Tampa’s unofficial gym, where at all hours of the day you can find many people walking, jogging, biking, and rollerblading down the nearly flat pavement. With the water on one side and some of Tampa’s most expensive real estate on the other, the scenery can’t be beat. It’s also the location of our most important celebration, the annual Gasparilla parade in late January.

3. Ybor City Visitor Center

Located in the heart of Tampa’s historic district, the Ybor City Visitor Center is the perfect place to start your exploration of this charming neighborhood. Operated by the Ybor City Chamber of Commerce, the Visitor Center offers free attraction maps and expert advice on where to go and what to see. There is also an abundance of other Tampa travel-related brochures and pamphlets. Take some time to explore the small museum and video presentation to provide some background and context to the colorful history of what was once known as the “Cigar Capital of the World.” This is also a good spot to shop for authentic and local souvenirs of your visit.

4. Fourth Friday

On the fourth Friday of every month from 5pm – 8pm, downtown Tampa throws open its doors and offers a huge selection of free activities and free access to top cultural and historic attractions. Gain admission to the festivities by picking up a free wristband from any of the event’s participants and enjoy. Attractions and activities vary from month to month but may include free admission to the Tampa Museum of Art, Tampa Bay History Center, and Tampa Theatre, and live local music can be enjoyed at multiple locations. Food and drink specials are also offered at many downtown locales. No need to drive, visitors can stroll the Riverwalk, take advantage of the Downtowner shuttles, Pirate Water Taxi rides, or Coast Bike rentals (free for 1 hour).

5. Manatee Viewing Center

Once believed to be mermaids, docile manatees are now an endangered species. In winter, when ocean temperatures drop, they flock to the heated water discharged from Tampa Bay’s power plant. From the observation platform, visitors can watch the marine mammals bask in the warm water, enjoying a respite from the cool bay. An educational building, complete with mini-theater, instructs visitors on the habits and lives of manatees while outside, nature trails wind along the banks and through picnic areas. Vending machines are available on the premises, and a gift shop sells related merchandise. Excursions generally take 1.5 to 2 hours.
